Silent, but not still...

It’s been quite a while since we’ve posted anything here, and I just wanted to let everyone know that it is not because don’t have anything to talk about, but more a case of working in silence while we make some major progress and preparations for the future.

Here’s what’s been going on lately at LumaLanes:

  • We’ve worked with the manufacturer of the circuit boards for our custom LED light strips to improve reliability. They’ve implemented some changes to their manufacturing process to improve the quality, and we’ve made some changes to the circuit board design to make them more robust.

  • We’ve completely revamped the way we seal the ends of the light strips to improve the reliability and durability of the waterproofing. We’ve borrowed the materials and techniques used in the telecommunications industry to seal connections in communications cables that are used outside or underground. We now have 4 layers of protection on each joint. We’ve had test strips soaking in water for weeks with no signs of leakage.

  • We’ve hired technicians to help with the manufacturing and building of the LED strips. Both our technicians have experience in the telecommunications industry and helped us develop the new sealing process.

  • We survived the record cold of this Winter in Montana. February temperatures were over 30 degrees (F) below normal. We are used to cold in Montana, but this was a brutal month and strained our work schedules, our cars and of course ourselves! One of our shipments of materials got stranded on a truck for a week because of the cold. We are still digging out from all the snow (as of late March).

We are also restructuring the company to allow us to pursue new opportunities and investments. The same people are still involved in running the company, but we are looking to bring in more help to expand and improve our sales, marketing and support.

It’s been a long process and we’ve purposely stayed quiet about a lot of it until we felt that we had some significant progress to report, and I’m happy to say that we now have! We are now working towards getting some inventory built up so that we can reduce our shipping times from the current 6-8 weeks to 1 week.

Stay tuned.. more to come soon!
